Police have named the young man killed in a crash off a hillside lane in Havelock North as Wade William Crosbie.
The 19-year-old, from Hastings, was killed in the crash on Foster Lane on January 2.
Police said two other people seriously injured in the crash remained in hospital recoveringfrom their injuries,
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.”
The death was the 13th in the national Christmas-New Year holiday road toll.
Police were called just before 10pm to the crash site, off Endsleigh Drive in a new housing area in the hilly southern rural outskirts of Havelock North, where a car had left the road and gone down a bank into a gully.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand reported two crews from Hastings and one from the Havelock North Volunteer Fire Brigade took part in the rescue of three people trapped in the vehicle about 20m down the bank from the road.
