The 4-year-old boy who was in serious condition after a head-on car crash near Gisborne on Good Friday remains in hospital.
He was one of seven people hurt in the crash when the cars they were in collided on a slight bend just south of Te Karaka, 25km inland fromthe city on State Highway 2.
The crash happened moments after a police patrol car began to pursue one of the cars for alleged speeding.
A 21-year-old woman in one of the vehicles was flown out to Waikato Hospital that night. She is in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.
The six others are three men aged 38, 26 and 21, an 18-year-old woman, a 4-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl. They were all in stable condition at Gisborne Hospital as of 1.30pm today.
