A toddler was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car in Nelson yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said about 4pm yesterday a 23-month-old boy was hit by a car on Main Rd Stoke in Nelson.

The boy was then taken to Nelson Hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries, she said.

A serious crash investigation was under way and police were speaking with witnesses.
