Yacht stranded after hitting rocks off coast of Wellington

A yacht remains stranded on Wellington's South Coast after hitting rocks last night.

The incident happened at Moa Point near Lyall Bay just before 7.30pm.

Police, maritime police and the Westpac helicopter were all deployed.

An 80-year-old man on board the yacht was rescued and brought safely to shore.

The yacht was expected to be recovered today.
