Worker falls to death at library

Police and Labour Department officials are investigating the death of a man working on the site of Whangarei's new public library.

Whangarei District Council acting chief executive Simon Weston said the 57-year-old fell 10m from a roof and died on the construction site before 10am on Tuesday.

Mr Weston said he could not comment further on the tragedy while Occupational Safety and Health and the police were investigating.
