Work will close Symonds St

One of inner Auckland's busiest roads, Symonds St, faces traffic closures each night this week - and all weekend - for the city council's $43 million Britomart-Newmarket busway project.

Full closures of a lower section of the street, between Waterloo Quadrant and Grafton Rd, have been confined to nocturnal hours for resurfacing due to be completed by tomorrow morning.

But traffic faces disruption on the critical central section, between Grafton Rd and Wellesley St, from tomorrow night until Monday morning while contractors raise it 200mm for smooth running when the busway is opened early next year.
