Women forge 'one-stop shop' for events

Six Wairarapa women are combining their talents to create a 'one-stop shop' for weddings and events.

Celebration Wairarapa was founded a few months ago when the women met through the Venus Network.

Between them they have a photographer, caterer, designer and clothes maker, skin care producer, olive oil producer and car hire.

Perfect Platters owner Helen Ewan and Ubuntu Skin Care owner Danel Herd said their business is still in the early stages and they are working towards getting a website up and running.

Their first project is a Vintage High Tea fundraiser for Hospice Wairarapa on December 6.

The event will host a silent auction, raffles, classic cars, a photobooth, a high tea in the garden and the local Cool Cats Band will be playing. All proceeds raised will go towards Hospice Wairarapa.

Ms Ewan and Ms Herd said they have been so thankful for the various products they have been donated for the auction and raffles and the help they have received.

"The community has been really generous," Ms Ewan said.

The women said picking Hospice Wairarapa as their charity was an easy decision. They wanted to give back to the "superb support the hospice gives", Ms Ewan said.

The six women are looking forward to creating events together with all their different strengths. So far they have enjoyed their time and said they have learned a lot from one another.

"It's been a learning experience for all of us," Ms Herd said.
