Woman's tearful farewell to slain husband and son

A Dunedin woman whose husband and son died in a double shooting says no one will ever know what happened inside their Mornington home that day.

A tearful Jacky Whitfield stood in front of hundreds of mourners at her husband Barry's funeral yesterday and bid him an emotional farewell on what would have been his 48th birthday.

She spoke first of her 15-year-old son Aidan and then her husband of more than 16 years.

Police have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
