Woman suffers serious injuries after being stabbed

A woman has been seriously injured after being stabbed in Ponsonby, Auckland, tonight.

Police and ambulance were called to a street - which authorities would not reveal - just before 10.30pm.

A woman in her 40s suffered abdominal stab wounds, a St John spokeswoman said, and has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

The police northern communications shift commander said officers are still hunting for the offender - thought to be known to the woman.
