Woman seriously injured in early morning attack

A woman is in Waikato hospital with serious injuries after an attack in the early hours of this morning.

Acting detective sergeant Nick Rolley says while they have yet to confirm what was used to injure the woman, it was definitely a weapon of some kind.

He says the attack happened in the Frankton area.

The woman's injuries are not life threatening and she is in a stable condition.
