Woman seriously ill after Bay of Plenty attack

A 24-year-old woman is seriously ill in Tauranga Hospital after she was attacked in the Bay of Plenty yesterday.

Police said she knocked unconscious with a blunt instrument at a house in Pukehina house between Tauranga and Whakatane early today.

A 27-year-old Auckland man had been arrested and charged with injuring with intent to injure and two charges of assault.

He was known to the victim and was due to appear in Tauranga District Court today.
