Woman missing in New Plymouth located

Police say an elderly woman who sneaked out of a New Plymouth rest home, checked herself into a motel for the night.

Search and rescue teams have been worried about the 80-year-old because of her dementia, and wild weather in the area.

She was seen on a security tape leaving Tainui rest home with two bags.

Police say she's now turned up safe and well, after spending the night at the Saddle and Sulky motel.
