A tourist who died after the rental she was a passenger in crashed into a full-laden logging truck near Matamata was from America and travelling with her parents.
Miss Guo was a front seat passenger in the Hyundai vehicle her 59-year-old father was driving when it turned intothe path of a fully laden logging truck on Monday morning.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Hopkins Rd and State Highway 29, which is also the turn-off to the Hobbiton Movie Set.
Waikato police Senior Sergeant Gill Meadows said Miss Guo's parents were still in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital.
