A woman in her 60s is dead after a two-car crash on a country road south of Auckland this morning, with traffic diversions now expected to continue till lunchtime.
The crash happened on the intersection of Linwood Rd and Laing Rd in Karaka, on the outskirts of suburban Papakura about 8.50am.
Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said one woman died and four others received minor injuries.
Police said the dead woman was in her 60s.
"Preliminary enquiries indicate that one vehicle has run into the back of the other," police said in a statement at 10.30am.
The road is blocked and traffic diversions are expected to be in place until lunchtime.
