Woman 'incredibly lucky' to survive being hit by train

A young woman suffered only minor injuries after being hit by a train at Maewa on the main trunk line between Feilding and Marton yesterday afternoon.

The Square Trust Rescue Helicopter took her to Palmerston North Hospital.

Toll Holdings spokeswoman Sue Foley said she understood the woman was on the track when the incident happened. The woman was "incredibly lucky" to be alive.
