Woman in suspicious fire dies

A Ngongotaha woman seriously burned in a suspicious house fire on May 1 has died.

Police charged unemployed 44-year-old Gary Donald Mills with assault after the fire.

He appeared in the Rotorua District Court on May 20, entering no plea.

Police had told the Weekend Herald earlier their investigation would become a homicide inquiry if the woman did not recover.
