Woman hit, killed by car

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Methven last night, say police.

A woman has died after being struck by a car in Canterbury.

The woman was walking along Forest Drive in Methven, 34km north-west of Ashburton, when she was hit by the car about 11.45pm yesterday, police said.

She was taken to Christchurch Hospital but died of her injuries.

Police said the driver was being spoken to and the woman's name would not be released until next of kin had been advised.
