Woman hit by towing vehicle

A woman was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle towing another vehicle, as she walked between Palmerston North and Longburn yesterday.

The woman, 38, from Longburn, was on the shoulder of State Highway 56 when she was struck about 6.45am, Palmerston North police said today.

She suffered serious head injuries and was in a stable condition in hospital.

Police wanted to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or was first on the scene.
