The assault of a woman who was dragged into a man's car before being left on the roadside in Hamilton has prompted a police appeal for witnesses.
About 2am on Sunday the woman, in her early 20s, was approached by a man driving a dark-coloured sedan on Grey St.
Theman approached the woman and dragged her into his vehicle, where he assaulted her before leaving her on the roadside, police said.
The man was described as Maori, around 30 years old, with short hair and was wearing a black jumper.
Police were asking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or whose property has CCTV footage of the Grey St area between Anzac Parade and the Hamilton East Primary School dip.
They could contact Detective Sergeant Scott Neilson on (07) 856 6200, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
