Woman dies in skiing accident

Police are investigating the death of a woman at Mount Hutt ski field in Canterbury this afternoon.

St John ambulance was called to the ski area about 3.15pm after a woman, whom One News reported was aged 56, was seriously injured in a fall.

She was flown to Christchurch Hospital where she later died.

One News reported the woman fell 700m over rocks and ice just outside the skifield boundaries.
