Woman charged over fatal stabbing back in court

An Auckland woman will return to court tomorrow after a 53-year-old woman was stabbed to death at a house in the upmarket suburb of Remuera on Friday.

The 24-year-old accused was remanded in custody until tomorrow after appearing in Auckland District Court on Saturday morning charged with assault.

Ambulance officers and police found the critically injured woman when they were called to a house in Remuera Rd about 9.30pm on Friday.

"Efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful and she died at the address," said Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Hooper.

The accused woman is understood to be known to the victim.
