Woman burned in toilet

A young Christchurch woman may require surgery for burns to her buttocks and legs after contact with a powerful chemical that was smeared on a public toilet seat.

Brooke O'Leary, 17, was "bearing up" in Christchurch Hospital yesterday as she awaited a decision on whether she would need skin grafts, her mother said.

Three other young women were affected by the chemical early on Saturday and were treated for burns.
