Police have arrested a 43-year-old woman following an alleged stabbing inAuckland this afternoon.

A 26-year-old woman was earlier taken to hospital with serious injuries after the alleged attack in Glen Eden about midday.

A police spokesperson said the woman was stabbed, and is currently receiving treatment for multiple cuts.

The alleged offender, the 43-year-old woman, has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will be appearing in Waitakere District Court on Monday.

Police believe the parties are known to each other.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson confirmed they transported a 26-year-old woman to hospital. Police said at the time that her injuries were serious.
