Witnesses sought to Northland hit and run

Northland police are searching for a driver involved in an alleged hit and run on Sunday night.

A 24-year-old man was flown to Whangarei Hospital with serious injuries after he was believed to have been hit on Williams Ave, Kaikohe after 8.30pm.

Police said two men in a car saw the injured man shortly before the crash walking along the road in what appeared to be an intoxicated state.

The driver and the vehicle had not been located and police said they wanted the driver to come forward.

Any witnesses who saw the incident are also asked to call police.

The man was wearing dark blue jeans, a brown jersey, a brown oil skin vest and a blue beanie. He had a black backpack with him.
