Winch traps fisherman, breaks arms

A young fisherman broke his arms when he was dragged into a winch while working on a trawler off the south Wairarapa coast yesterday.

Wellington-based Westpac rescue helicopter crewman Dave Greenberg said the 16-year-old was helping haul in a large net when he got caught between two ropes and dragged into the winch up to his shoulders.

He was flown to Masterton for emergency treatment.
