The heavily pregnant wife of Warriors star James Maloney was rushed to hospital this week.
Jessica Maloney, whose second child is due in six weeks, spent several days in Auckland City Hospital after experiencing contractions.
Warriors standoff James Maloney had to rush back from Whangarei where he was playing atrial match last weekend. "It wasn't too serious," he said. "She just had some contractions when I was up at Whangarei so she went in because she is not due for another six weeks.
"She went into hospital for a couple of days. They gave her a couple of doses of steroids in case the bub was to come out.
"They monitored her. Now it's a case of waiting for the bub to come."
Maloney - whose son has just turned two - said he was more relaxed about the birth of his second child than the first time around.
"I suppose you don't think about it so much the second time around because you are already watching the first one. It sneaks up on you."
The Warriors face Manly at Eden Park next Sunday in a rematch of last year's Grand Final. Australian Maloney is the club's third highest points scorer.
