Why Wu-Tang Clan is suing 'Woof-Tang Clan'

Wu-Tang Clan are not happy about a dog-walking business in New York called Woof-Tang Clan.

Wu-Tang Clan is suing a hip-hop inspired pet sitting company in New York for trademark infringement.

Woof-Tang Clan offers dog walking and sitting services for "the illest group of dogs in New York City".

But the NY Daily News reported that RZA, the founder of rap crew Wu-Tang Clan, had filed legal papers citing trademark infringement.

The papers cited multiple trademark infringement of the group's name and logo.

When asked by the paper, owner Marty Cuatchon declined to comment but admitted: "I am a fan. We walk dogs. I thought it was a good idea."

On their hip-hop inspired website, Woof-Tang Clan say "we're courteous and responsible, as long as we're in agreement that Nas' Illmatic is the greatest album of all time".

Wu-Tang Clan have released six albums since their formation in 1992.

They recently sparked controversy for selling the only copy of their 2015 album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin to Martin Shkreli for US$2m.

It has never been officially released, but was recently re-sold on eBay for just over $1m.
