Local accessories label Deadly Ponies is starting a "guerrilla" store within Ponsonby Rd curios shop Flotsam and Jetsam.
Opening at 10am on Thursday, this is the first retail space for the popular brand, which has built up a strong following with its supple leather bags. Designer Liam Bowden describes it as the first step towards having a flagship store.
Upstairs on the first floor of the Lord Ponsonby's Antiques building, the space features vintage neon lights, a painted floor in Deadly Ponies' signature purple, and staff, like retail manager Carla Calder pictured, outfitted in custom Miss Crabb workroom aprons.
As well as the full Deadly Ponies winter collection and products exclusive to the store, there will be a bespoke service, with any bag available to be made in a selection of coloured leather.
