A half-million dollar lotto ticket has been sold at the Patea Four Square so the Chronicle went to Patea to ask some locals what they would do with the winnings. Video Bevan Conley.
A Whanganui couple who won $333,333 on Lotto's First Division plan to take a holiday and help their children pay their mortgages.
The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, found out they had won while they were having dinner at their daughter's house last Wednesday night.
The woman said shedecided to check her Lotto numbers online.
"When I looked down at our ticket I couldn't believe my eyes, all our numbers lined up. I then ran into the lounge and told the family that we had won Lotto.
"My daughter just laughed and said, 'Mum, you've had too many wines'."
The couple bought their ticket at Trafalgar Lotto. This is the 10th First Division ticket sold at Trafalgar Lotto, making it the third-highest store in the Whanganui-Rangitikei region for Lotto First Division wins.
