What are tags?
Tags are a way to organise lots of information. They are simply short descriptions for a subject. They are like keywords, or a label for a category.
Our website is filled with information. So we have categorised our material under tags to make it
easier for you to find what you want.
Our editors have set up hundreds of tags so that you can dig around a subject. If you want to know more about subjects related to our content, then click on the tag for more information.
Typically, most items have several tags to allow you to search around for more information or views.
What is an example?
Let's say you're on a page about bad weather in New Zealand. At the bottom of the page you'll find a list of related tags. They would be tags like Storms, Natural Disasters or Civil Defence in New Zealand. Click on them and you would be taken to a page of headlines on that topic.
Each page also has links to help you find more information. You can add these pages to your Favourites or bookmarks so you can return again and again to news that interests you. You can also subscribe for free to each of these tags by RSS so you can have news you want delivered straight to you.

We have 2500 tags classified to group information for you. For a complete list of all our tags look for the link on this page.
