A person is in a serious condition after an incident at a beach in Whangaparāoa on Christmas Day.
Hato Hone St John said emergency services were called to Army Bay, north of Auckland, at 11.30am.
One ambulance, one rapid response unit, and an operations manager attended, along with a helicopter.
