A West Auckland primary school went into lockdown, with children and staff told to stay inside classrooms after police advice.

Woodlands Park School in Titirangi advised parents that it initiated a precautionary lockdown because of police advice this afternoon.

“All staff and students are safe and secure inside classrooms. DO NOT come to the school or call the office,” it told parents.

Around 12.40pm, police said they received a report of concern for the safety of a student at the school.

“The school had gone into a voluntary lockdown as a result,” police said.

Police said they are now speaking with the affected parties, and there are no safety concerns for the student or any others.

Woodlands Park School has since lifted the lockdown.

Police said inquiries would continue into the exact circumstances of what occurred.
