Wellingtonians are doing well when it comes to saving water.
Monday saw a water usage of 113 million litres - the second lowest water use level since records began in 1997.
Greater Wellington Regional Councils Chris Laidlow says that, coupled with the recent rain, will help water supplies last longer.
"We have a target, that was 130 million litres a day, so the public are doing really really well. We're really pleased at the response we're seeing."
Mr Laidlow said cleaned water from the rivers would be used to top up the storage lakes.
