Wellington commuter chaos as train line halted

Wellington train commuters have been affected by delays and cancellations this morning.

Services on the Kāpiti Line have been cancelled because of a broken overhead cable.

A passenger said he was sitting on the train while it had stopped for between 10 and 15 minutes.

He said another train had stopped and pulled up behind him.

A Metlink spokesperson said a train was stuck in a tunnel, but the train was moving again and repair crews were en route.

The Hutt Valley line is also operating with minor delays due to a separate power outage on the Johnsonville Line yesterday at 5pm.

That also delayed services on the Wairarapa Line this morning.
