“Police would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident, as well as those who were in and around Dido Pl and the surrounding areas at the time of the incident.”
“There is currently an active police situation in Cannons Creek,” Porirua College wrote on Facebook earlier today.
“For everyone’s safety, the police have asked us to stay home until further notice.
“This means ALL students and staff who are not currently at school need to stay home at the moment.
“Students and staff who are already at school are all safe inside lockable rooms.”
Half an hour later, the school posted that it had been told the incident was over.
Perkins said multiple police staff remained at the scene, some armed as a precaution.
