Police charge man after woman’s body found at Raumati Beach, Kāpiti Coast, property

A man has been arrested after a woman died at a Raumati Beach property on the Kāpiti Coast overnight.

Police were called to the Matatua Rd address about 1.15am with reports someone had been injured and discovered the woman’s body.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“It’s deeply upsetting for our community to hear that there has been a homicide in our district,” Kāpiti Coast Mayor Janet Holborow told the Herald.

“My heart goes out to the family and friends of the person who has so tragically and suddenly passed away.”

Police say they are considering more charges.

The scene was guarded overnight and a forensic team will examine it today.

The man is due to appear in Porirua District Court today.
