Police dive squad searching for missing Southland boatie in Lake Manapōuri

Police are still searching for a person who fell into Lake Manapōuri last night.

Police were notified at 6.15pm on Saturday that the person had gone overboard about 1km offshore in the Fiordland lake.

“An initial search last night was unsuccessful and later paused at around 10pm,” Southland search and rescue Sergeant Alun Griffiths said.

The Police National Dive Squad is currently assisting with the search efforts.
