More than forty rallies are expected to be held today across the country to protest the nations action on fuel tax.
A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Wellington overnight.
The crash happened around 11.30pm on Karo Drive, near Willis St, in the inner city.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital by ambulance, police said.
Serious crash investigators examined thescene and the road was reopened at 1am, police said.
