Over 250 people’s watchlists are yearning for a heart-shaped chip which might “make your love life better”, according to a popular Trade Me listing.
With 50 bids and a week left on the auction, bids for the ready salted chip sit at $100.
“Kiwis have a great sense ofhumour and they love to find the extraordinary in everyday food items,” Trade Me spokeswoman Tiana Barns said.
The listing has more than 13,000 views.
The seller, hOllyst, told bidders the proof of the crisp’s Cupid properties is in their own love for chippies - given they’d had four mini bags in one day.
The chip is safely sitting in a sealed Ikea container, the seller said, and will come with the original Bluebird mini chip packet.
Barns said Trade Me has seen several “quirky, heart-shaped items” pop up over the years, so it’s become a tradition to see what these novelty snacks will fetch.
“It just goes to show that Kiwis can find a bit of fun and value in almost anything.”
