Wellington vehicle fire leaves one dead, another seriously injured

A person has died after a vehicle fire near Wellington overnight.

Police were called to Taita Drive, in Lower Hutt, at about 1.30am after reports of a vehicle ablaze in a carpark.

Another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A scene guard remained in place this morning as police continued to make inquiries.

The death is not thought to be suspicious.
