An African drummer band entertained the crowds on Lambton Quay during the 2009 NZI Sevens street parade in Wellington yesterday.

The Wellington leg of the international sevens series starts this afternoon, culminating in the playoff matches on Saturday night.

The annual event generates a party atmosphere throughout the city, with large numbers of revellers, many wearing costumes, coming from all around the country.
