Wellington road State Highway 58 closed after crash

Two cars have crashed closing a road in Wellington this evening.

Emergency services were at the scene of the incident which occurred at 7.35pm on State Highway 58, Judgeford, near Pauatahanui.

One man had serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital.

The road was closed while police waited for the rescue helicopter to land.

One lane was totally blocked outside Old Man Mack Saw Mill and Pauatahanui roundabout.

No diversion was in place.
