The price of the Weekend Herald increases today. This price change does not affect the price of the weekday editions of the Herald.
The cost of the Weekend Herald to subscribers has increased by 30c to $1.50. Readers purchasing the Weekend Herald from retail outlets now pay $2, up 50c from
$1.50.
The Herald's practice of maintaining lower prices for six-day subscribers continues, said the general manager sales and marketing, Pip Elliott. Six-day-a-week subscribers would pay $6 a week, a saving of $1 a week, or the equivalent of a free weekday paper, over readers buying from retail outlets.
New and existing six-day-a-week subscribers are eligible to win one of four HP Pavilion computers, each worth $3095. The first draw will be held on Thursday, with the winner announced the next day.
This is in addition to the existing benefits for six-month subscribers, who receive an additional three weeks of free newspapers, and 12- month subscribers, who receive six weeks of free Heralds.
Existing paid-in-advance subscribers will not be affected by the price change until they renew their subscriptions.
For subscribers, this is the first price increase since the Weekend Herald was launched three years ago, Pip Elliott said.
The paper has recently been reconfigured to include more editorial content and colour and a Review section.
