Three extra public open days will be held to allow people to walk through Auckland's much-anticipated Waterview Tunnel.
Yesterday it was announced the tunnel would open in July, after months of delays - including one public open day.
However, slots were quickly snapped up, with the public calling for morechances to see the new tunnel.
Transport Minister Simon Bridges this afternoon announced three extra open days before it's opened to traffic.
"There has been strong interest from members of the public wanting to experience the tunnel, with more than 42,000 people snapping up tickets so far to walk and cycle through it," Bridges said.
"In response to this demand we are now providing a further three opportunities to allow more people to see the country's largest and most ambitious roading project up close."
The ceremonial opening will take place on Sunday, June 18, with the first open day afterwards. Tickets for open days on June 18 and 25 are fully booked.
Three extra open days will happen on Friday, June 23, Monday June 26, and Tuesday, June 27.
