It's the third year that thousands of crosses have been installed at Wellington Botanic Garden to remember those who died in the first World War. Council Project Manager Dilys Grant says this year, 1,568 crosses have been added to reflect the number of Wellingtonians who died in 1917. She says our soldiers were facing terrifying scenes this time one hundred years ago.
