The song then switches to Justin Timberlake's latest hit to cheers from the audience as the team takes turns dancing, one even doing the moonwalk while another tries her hand at crumping.
The performance ends with one of the officers donning a helmet and spinning on his head as the crowd cheers.
Police say the "running-man challenge" dance crew, all serving officers, called in support from a colleague with specialist break-dancing skills for the performance.
Police's national manager of brand and engagement, James Whitaker, said after the performance there was a "massive queue of happy kids" all looking to get selfies with the crew.
"Our performance allowed us to positively engage with youth who were present and let aspiring recruits know that all sorts of people work at NZ Police, including people with a love of hip hop music and dance," he said.
A short video of their performance was posted on the NZ Police Recruitment Facebook page about 9.30am and reached more than 400,000 people in two hours.
