The 14-second video shows the motorcyclist driving down a rural road when a red car appears from around a corner, driving at a high speed on the wrong side of the road.
The motorcyclist yells and points to the car to get on to the other side, which it does after coming to an abrupt stop.
"F***ing hell," the driver can be heard saying before the video ends.
Tourists driving dangerously on New Zealand roads have been a major cause for concern in the past year after a string of accidents, some of them fatal.
In January last year a member of the public stopped a tourist driving a rental car on the Lindis Pass and took the vehicle's keys, after narrowly avoiding a head-on collision.
A month later, a fed-up man near Franz Josef Glacier confiscated the keys of a tourist he had flagged down after seeing them driving on the wrong side of the road.
