Warriors giants Manu Vatuvei and Glen Fisiiahi won't be wearing onesies next Saturday when they go head to head with the Raiders at Mt Smart.
But off field they're happy to help by hamming it up at a pyjama party tomorrow at Middlemore's Kidz First Hospital.
The Middlemore Foundation's Jammiesin June project, supported by the Herald on Sunday, is raising funds to get warm pyjamas to needy kids this winter. Generous Kiwis have donated $40,000 and nearly 5800 pairs of pyjamas. The target is 10,000 pairs by the end of June.
The Warriors have got in behind the cause, with four players including Middlemore Foundation ambassadors Vatuvei and Fisiiahi attending tomorrow's party. Cash and pyjama donations will also be collected by onesie-clad volunteers at the Warriors-Raiders clash on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to attend the match in onesies or pyjamas.
Vatuvei, a father of three, said he knew what it was like to grow up poor.
"It was really tough for us, but we survived and we just want kids of the future looked after," Vatuvei said. "Parents are trying to do their best. It would be awesome if people could help. Just one pair of pyjamas can help a kid so much."
