Warning over fake mystery shopper

Officials are warning of a fake Mystery Shopper job advertised recently in the Howick & Pakuranga Times.

The scammer is operating as Andrea J. Gilfoyle, a hiring manager from Christchurch.

People who responded to the ad by email have been sent fraudulent American Express travellers' cheques to deposit in their accounts.

They're asked to return some of the money through a Western Union account.

Internal Affairs anti-spam Investigator, Toni Demetriou, is urging anyone who replied to the ad and received an email in return to lodge a complaint.
