“Nothing too dramatic, but it does mean the southern parts and the West Coast will see bouts of rain coming and going,” Martino said.
“The east coast of the South Island isn’t too bad if you’re north of Ashburton.
“The east coasts of both islands are pretty good places to be on the whole.”
Martino said temperatures were predicted to return to normal today and tomorrow, before warming up for the weekend.
“Tauranga, Whakatāne, and Hastings are forecast to creep into the high 20s.
“Most other places in the North Island are projected to crack the low 20s into the mid 20s.”
According to MetService, Auckland is forecast to reach a high of 25C every day over the weekend, except for tomorrow, when the high will be 23C.
Hamilton is predicted to reach a high of 26C today and Saturday, with a high of 24C tomorrow.
Northland is forecast to reach 24C today and tomorrow and 25C on Saturday.
Napier is forecast to reach a high of 26C tomorrow, before climbing to 27C on Saturday and 28C on Sunday.
Humid nights may not have left Auckland, with overnight temperatures of 17C and 18C predicted tonight and tomorrow, respectively.
“It’s starting to get back into uncomfortable territory,” Martino said.
“Not as hot as we saw earlier in the week, but that is still pretty summery.
“Pretty typical summer temperatures.”
